Pulpitis treatment

Untimely treatment of tooth decay in children can lead to the development of pulpitis – inflammation of the soft tissues of the tooth (pulp).

Pulpitis is much more common in children than in adults and develops much faster. The reason for this difference is the thin enamel of baby teeth, but also the wide root canals and the large size of the pulp.

There are two forms of pulpitis: chronic and acute. And if the acute form is characterized by strong painful sensations, increased body temperature and general intoxication of the body, the chronic form can run virtually asymptomatic and accompanied by mild pain during chewing and a feeling of distention in the gum.

The consequences of untimely pulpitis treatment can be dire: from problems with the bite (as a result of early tooth extraction) to damage to the rudiments of the permanent dentition. In some cases, pulpitis can lead to purulent abscesses and periodontitis – very dangerous conditions for the child’s health.
