One-stage implantation

To restore functionality and aesthetics after tooth extraction, only dental implants can help. The conventional implant technique requires waiting 2-3 months for the bone to regenerate at the extraction site, but in some cases it is possible to place the implant immediately.

Combining the extraction of a decayed tooth and the placement of an implant in its place in one procedure is called a one-stage implantation.

Types of single-stage implantation:

• Immediate loading
  With immediate loading implants, a temporary crown is immediately placed on the implant. This means that you will leave your appointment with a tooth in place of the extracted tooth. Yes, this crown will need to be replaced with a permanent one later on, but you will avoid periods of time when you have to endure missing teeth. Only an implantologist can determine whether implantation with immediate loading is possible.
• With delayed loading
  With delayed loading implantation, the crown is not placed until after the implant has engrafted after several months, but the permanent crown is placed immediately.

Advantages of one-stage implantation:

• Promptness
  There are no waiting periods, everything happens in one appointment, in some cases it is possible to install a temporary crown immediately. Usually all manipulations take no more than an hour and a half
• Bone preservation
  When a tooth is missing, the bone tissue at the site of its attachment is thinning, placing an implant avoids the process of bone atrophy.
• Gum Aesthetics
  Instant implantation prevents the gum tissue from changing, preserving the soft tissue topography

When single-stage implantation is applicable

In each individual case, the decision on the possibility of one-stage implantation is made by the doctor on the basis of a 3D examination. It is important to consider many factors to ensure the success of the immediate implantation:

• Quantity and quality (density) of bone at the implant site
• Degree of traumatic tooth extraction
• Absence of inflammatory processes
• Absence of periodontal disease
• Appropriate hole size after tooth extraction

Stages of one-stage implantation

• First stage
  The implantologist performs an examination, 3D diagnostics, assesses indications and contraindications for immediate implantation
• Second step
  Tooth extraction. The condition of the hole is then assessed and its suitability for immediate implantation is evaluated.
• Stage Three
  If the condition of the bone and the cavity are found to be satisfactory, the dental implant is placed
• Stage four
  If the stability of the implant is high, a temporary crown can be placed. If stability is insufficient, the placement of the crown takes place several months after implantation

One-stage implantation is usually performed under local anesthesia. If necessary, the patient may be put under medicated sleep.
